Two women held with 105-gm heroin
The Basti Jodhewal police on Sunday arrested two women and recovered 105 gm of heroin from their possession. The suspects were on the way to deliver heroin to their clients when the police caught them.
They were identified as Sona and Simmi, both residents of the Lakhowal road area.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), North, Davinder Chaudhary, said the police had received a tip-off that the women were into the illegal trade of heroin smuggling and they were on the way to deliver the drug to their clients. The police team after verifying their location conducted a raid and nabbed the duo and seized 105 gm of heroin from their possession.
Chaudhary said both women had a criminal past as Sona had been facing five cases, including drug and liquor smuggling, and Simmi was facing one case of drug peddling registered in the past. After getting bail, both suspects continued the illegal trade.
The ACP said now, police remand of the suspects would be sought from court so that in further interrogation, entire drug supply line could be busted and big smugglers involved in the drug chain be arrested.
