Two members of thieves’ gang nabbed
The Dakha police on Friday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves and nabbed two of its members.
The suspects were identified as Bamb Bola of Ravidas Nagar and Santosh Paswan, alias Daku, of Indira Colony, Jagraon. The police recovered two inverters, sharp weapons, a roll of ladies suit, an electronic weighing machine, two cookers, utensils, a motorcycle rehri, one motorcycle, a mobile phone, two wrist watches and other items from the duo.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dakha, Varinder Singh Khosa, said Mullanpur Dakha SHO inspector Amritpal Singh had received a tip-off that the two suspects, along with other aides, had formed a gang of thieves and they had committed several incidents of theft in shops and houses in the Dakha area. It was also involved in vehicle thefts.
Khosa said after the arrest of the suspects, the police found that they had kept stolen things in their shanties. Following which, a police team conducted a raid, which led to the recovery of the stolen goods.
The DSP said besides the duo, many of their accomplices were still at large and raids were being conducted to nab them.
A case under various sections of the BNS was registered against them and further investigation was on, Khosa said.
