Two killed, 9 injured in Tempo Traveller, tractor-trailer collision

Two persons were killed on the spot and nine others were injured in a terrible collision between Tempo Traveller and a timber-laden tractor-trailer near Adda Baghpur-Sataur on the Hoshiarpur- Dasuya road today morning.

The condition of three injured was stated to be serious. According to information, bhajan (hym) singer Bhupinder Babbal’s team was returning to Chandigarh on Tempo Traveller (bearing registration No. PB01 C-9968) after jagran/jagrata at Maa Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu and Kashmir. Around 7 am when they reached near Adda Baghpur-Sataur, their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer loaded with timber coming from the opposite direction.

The accident was so terrible that Tempo Traveller was badly damaged. Subhash Singh (38), a resident of Sector 30B, Chandigarh, and Paras Kamboj (24), a resident of Dhani Chananwali, Fatehabad district (Haryana), who were in the vehicle died on the spot. Nine persons were injured, out of which condition of three was stated to be serious. The injured were admitted to the Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital. The seriously injured were referred to the PGI, Chandigarh.

The accident occurred as the Tempo Traveller driver fell asleep while driving. The injured were identified as Harsh, a resident of Mukerian, Umesh, a resident of Chandigarh, Jagtar Singh, a resident of Sector 31, Chandigarh, Deepak, a resident of Phase IV, Zirakpur, Taranpreet Singh, a resident of New Delhi, Dushant, a resident of Ropar, and Tempo Traveller driver Neeraj Kumar. Besides, the two injured were yet to be identified.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after post-mortem examination. The police said further action would be taken after recording statements of the injured.
