The Lopoke police have arrested two persons on a charge of murder bid. They were identified as Kuldeep Singh, alias Kola, and his son Dilraj Singh, both residents of Khiala Kalan village.

Massa Singh, a resident of Guru Har Rai Avenue, alleged that on Monday late evening, he was returning home after meeting his brother-in-law Dilbagh Singh at Khiala Kalan village via the Khasa road when an SUV came from the opposite side and intercepted his car.

He alleged Dilraj Singh came out of the SUV and fired two gunshots at his car which hit the front glass of the car. He said in order to save himself, he came out of the car and fled towards the fields. He said the accused ran away from the spot while shouting and threatening to kill him.

The police said taking a prompt action in the case, the police nabbed the two accused and registered a case of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act against them. An old enmity is stated to be the reason behind the incident, the police said. He said efforts were on to recover the weapon used in the crime.
