Two get life term in Dhanas murder case

A local court has sentenced two persons Jinder, alias Ajay, and Gulshan of EWS Colony, Dhanas, to undergo life term in a six-year-old murder case. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh each on the convicts. The police arrested the accused in a case registered on September 13, 2018. under Sections 307, 302, 324 and 34 of the IPC at Police Station, Sarangpur, on the complaint of a resident of Dhanas.

The complainant told the police that the accused persons attacked Kuldeep, aka Lovkush, and his friend Vijay on September 13, 2018 with knives and helmets. He said the accused were urinating on the road, to which Kuldeep objected. On this, the accused started fighting with Kuldeep and Vijay. They gave several blows to Kuldeep and Vijay with a knife. Kuldeep succumbed to his injuries at GMSH-16.

After investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against the accused. Finding prima facie case, charges were framed against the accused to which they pleaded not guilty and claimed trial. The counsel of the accused said they were falsely implicated in the case. On the other hand, the public prosecutor argued that the prosecution has proved the case beyond a shadow of doubt.

After hearing of the arguments, the court said both the witness complainant and injured person Vijay fully supported the case of prosecution and also identified all the accused who had caused fatal injuries Kuldeep. The court said in view of this they have been sentenced to undergo life term. The court directed that out of Rs 5 lakh fine, Rs 3 lakh shall be paid to legal heirs of deceased Kuldeep in equal shares towards compensation due to mental agony and pain suffered by them on account of untimely death of Kuldeep. A sum of Rs 1 lakh shall be paid to injured Vijay on account of pain and suffering suffered by him due to injuries sustained by him in the incident.
