Two fraudsters have been arrested by the crime branch of the UT police for allegedly duping a man of Rs50,000 after befooling him.

The complainant, Prem Lal, had reported that two suspects had taken cash from him outside the PNB in Sector 16 on August 26.

The suspects had lured the victim on the promise of profit and handed him a bundle of paper wrapped in a cloth in exchange for his money.

The police said they analysed the modus operandi of the suspects and managed to nab them. They have been identified as Mohammad Rasool (36) and Parmod Dass (30), both residents of Bihar.

The police said the suspect had also cheated Mahesh Kumar of Rs29,000 outside the PNB at Burail in February 2020.

The police said during interrogation, the suspects disclosed that they had duped many people in Panchkula, Pinjore, Mohali, Zirakpur and Baddi.
