Two deaths, 239 cases in Mohali

The district witnessed two Covid fatalities today, taking the toll to 157. The district also witnessed 239 fresh cases and 162 recoveries. The tally now stands at 8,228.
Civil Surgeon Manjit Singh said a 53-year-old woman from Dappar died at Gian Sagar Hospital. She was suffering from diabetes and hypertension. A 44-year-old man from Phase 7 died at Fortis, Mohali.
Of the fresh cases, 84 were reported from Mohali urban, 29 from Kharar, 44 from Gharuan, 48 from Dhakoli, 19 from Dera Bassi, four each from Lalru and Boothgarh and seven from Kurali.
Meanwhile, the Civil Surgeon, along with a team of health officials, today visited the houses of patients infected with Covid in Nayagaon and inquired about their condition. He asked their family members to keep the morale of the patients high, follow a good and nutritious diet and adhere to all guidelines issued by the government.
Fourteen positive cases have come to light in Dasmesh Nagar and Gobind Nagar where two areas — one near the post office and the other near Century Public School —have been converted into micro-containment zones. The Civil Surgeon said the 14 patients were home-quarantined while tests of their close contacts were being conducted. — TNS
