Two dead, two hurt in mishap

Two persons were killed while two sustained injuries after a Scorpio (HP 08C 0346) they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge at Nerwa in Shimla district. The deceased were identified as Pratap Hejta and Poona Kumar, while the injured were identified as Brij Kishore and Vishkarma Sharma.

The accident took place today around 1 pm on the Shamtha-Tikkari link road in Nerwa when Pratap who was driving the vehicle lost control over it, resulting in the mishap.

The accident was noticed by local residents who informed the police. A police team reached the spot and rescued the injured and recovered the bodies of the victims.

The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital, Nerwa from where they have been shifted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) for further treatment. Postmortem of the deceased is also being conducted.

This is the second accident in Chopal Tehsil that has occurred in the past two days. On October 16, three persons from Jubbal in Shimla district had died in an accident after their car fell into a gorge.
