The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation organised a workshop at Bahout-Kasol village in Bilaspur district to train villagers in providing hospitality to tourists. Notably, the district administration would make Gobind Sagar and Kol Dam new tourism destinations of the state.

The Bahout-Kasol village is located near Kol Dam. The village is known for serene beauty and tranquillity. Villagers were trained in how to provide homestay accommodations to tourists in the two-day workshop. Manoj Kumar, tourism officer, said the workshop was organised on the instructions of Abid Hussain Sadiq, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Bilaspur, at Ghar Harnoda and Bahout-Kasol villages. He said after completion of the workshop six people applied for starting homestay accommodations for tourists in their houses.

He said to promote village tourism, home accommodation for tourists was the most important factor. He said any person, who had a good house of one to four rooms, could apply for homestay accommodation. He said Bahout-Kasol would be the first tourism village of the state. Efforts were on to turn this ambitious plan into reality, he added.
