Two budding female boxers from the city have bagged gold medals in the three state-level boxing championships organised during Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan.

Aasmeen Kaur and Pavni Sharma, both students of Khalsa College Senior Secondary School, won gold in 66 kg and 46 kg weight category, respectively. The finals were held at Balachaur on Monday.

Earlier, inter-school boxing championship held in Zira from November 5 to November 9, Aasmeen had won gold in 70 kg weight category and Pavni had won gold in 44 kg weight.

During junior boxing championship at Malerkotla from August 25 to August 27, Aasmeen had won gold in 70 kg weight and Pavni in 46 kg weight category.

Boxing coach Baljinder Singh said, “I have never seen a student boxer who have won three championships in a row.” He said both the budding female boxers would soon start participating national boxing championships.
