Ludhiana, August 5

Those booked were identified as Abhay Singh, a resident of Mandi Mullanpur, and Sahil, a resident of Shimlapuri, Ludhiana.

Ravinder Pal, alias Kala, a resident of Mandi Mullanpur, in a complaint to the police stated that he owns Pandit Da Dhaba on the GT road in Mullanpur where he had employed one Ram Shankar, a native of Bihar, as an employee. On August 4 morning, he was away for some work while his workers, including Ram Shankar, Kamaljit Singh and Ramesh Kumar, were present at the dhaba. He said Abhay along with Sahil barged into the dhaba. They were carrying a sword and an iron rod, he said.

“The assailants while waving a sword and iron rod asked my employees about me. When my employee Ram Shankar said owner is not available, the suspects entered into heated arguments with him. They attacked Ram Shankar and also vandalised my dhaba. The suspects also told my workers that they would not spare me,” the complainant alleged.

While revealing the cause enmity, the complainant said he had a property dispute with the owner of Happy Service Station in Dakha identified as Kuljinderpal Singh, a resident of Punjab Mata Nagar, Ludhiana, and one Harminder Singh, alias Neena, a resident of Dakha. He said both had filed a court case to get the shops vacated from where his dhaba was functioning. He said Abhay Singh was close to Kuljinderpal and Harminder due to which he came to his dhaba to intimidate him at the behest of the latter, the complainant said.

Investigating officer ASI Karamjit Singh said after registering a case further investigation had been launched in this connection.
