Two arrested on murder charge
An 18-year-old man was shot dead in Sector 5 last night following a dispute that started during a wedding celebration the previous day. The police have arrested two accused in connection with the murder and seized an SUV, an illegal pistol, two magazines and six cartridges from them.
The complainant, Vikas Kangra, said he was sitting near Mata Mandir on Friday night with friends Manjeet alias Lucky, Sahil, Akash alias Aaku, Gagan and Abhishek, when they were approached by two men, Monu and Mohit, who arrived in an SUV.
Kangra said the men began verbally abusing him and his friends, adding when they opposed them, the two opened fire. He said the gunshot hit his friend Manjeet in the stomach. Manjeet later succumbed to his injuries on Saturday during treatment at a hospital.
An FIR was registered at the Sector 5 police station. In a swift response, the police arrested Monu (35) and Mohit (24).
The accused confessed to committing the crime, stating the altercation began a day earlier at a wedding in Sohna, where both the victim and the accused had argued while dancing. The dispute escalated, leading to the fatal shooting.
“The vehicle and weapons used in the murder have been seized. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem,” said ACP (crime) Varun Dahiya.
