Tribune Trust Sports Festival kicks off
The Tribune School, Sector 29, logged an 11-3 win over Ashiana Public School, Sector 46, in the handball event on the opening day of the 6th Tribune Trust Sports Festival being held on the school premises.
Guru Nanak Khalsa School, Sector 30, logged 11-1 win over Ankur School, Sector 14; and DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8; registered a narrow 24-22 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16.
In netball, the girls of The Tribune School registered a convincing 18-5 victory over St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, while Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, defeated Ashiana Public School 8-1.
These remarkable wins highlight the competitive spirit and talent on display at the festival.
Earlier, the meet was inaugurated by Om Prakash, former deputy secretary, sports, and captain of Indian Volleyball Team. He is a recipient of Bhim Award and Dhyan Chand LifeTime Achievement Award.
The event commenced with an invigorating address by principal Rani Poddar. The sports festival is aimed at nurturing talents, encourage healthy competition and celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship, marking a significant step towards fostering a culture of physical fitness and excellence in the community.
