Anupam Kher's face replaces Gandhi on fake Rs 500 notes in Gujarat
Anupam Kher, the most versatile actor in Indian cinema, has played different roles in Indian cinema.
But this part was real. He became the new ‘Gandhi' as the counterfeiters in Gujarat cranked up his value when miscreants decided to paste the actor’s picture on fake Rs 500 denomination notes worth Rs 1.6 crore.
Using these fake notes, the miscreants duped an Ahmadabad bullion trader of crores. Interestingly, the notes also have 'Resole Bank of India' printed on them, instead of 'Reserve Bank of India'.
Images of the fake notes have gone viral on social media with many expressing shock at the incident, while others found it amusing.
Anupam himself, was among the few to have expressed his amusement over the incident. He took to his Instagram recently, and shared a newsclip of the fake currency bust.
“My photo instead of Gandhi's photo on the note of five hundred???? Anything can happen”.
The actor will be next seen in the Kangana Ranaut directorial ‘Emergency', which is based on the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. The film has run into controversies over its censor certificate, and its release has been pushed many times.
Kher made his acting debut with the Mahesh Bhatt directorial ‘Saaransh'. His accolades include two National Film Awards. He has also been honoured with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in 2016 for his contribution to Indian cinema and arts.
