The Yamunanagar district unit of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) has decided to go door to door in 25 villages appealing to the people not to vote in favour of the BJP for not fulfilling their demand of stoppage of passenger trains at the Saraswati Nagar (Mustafabad) railway station.

Appeal to be made in 25 villages

Members of the BKU and other residents have been demanding stoppage of passenger trains at the Saraswati Nagar railway station for a long time, but the demand remains unfulfilled. Now, the union has announced that it would go door to door in 25 villages, appealing to the people to vote against the BJP.

The BKU members and residents of the area of Saraswati Nagar took the decision at a meeting today held at the Saraswati Nagar railway station.

Sanju Gundiana, district president of the BKU, said the BKU and the residents of about 25 villages connected with the Saraswati Nagar railway station had been demanding stoppage of some passenger trains at the station for a long time.

He said a delegation of the BKU met the general manager Shobhan Chaudhary of the Northern Railways in New Delhi last month in connection with this demand of stoppage of some trains at the said railway station in Yamunanagar district.

He said they also demanded the restarting of the passenger trains that were stopped during the Covid epidemic. He added that the GM had assured them that the trains would soon start stopping at the station.

“The GM assured us that a letter regarding stoppage of trains had already been written by them to the Railway Ministry. He told us that there were Assembly elections in Haryana, therefore, there might be a delay in the decision regarding stoppage of trains. But, we will soon send you a copy of the letter written by them to the Railway Ministry,” said Sanju Gandiana.

He said they met the GM more than 15 days ago, but so far, he had not sent the copy of the said letter to them.

“There is a BJP government both at the Centre and in the state, but both governments didn’t pay attention to our demand. Therefore, we along with the local residents have decided to go door to door in 25 villages of the Saraswati Nagar area asking them not to vote in favour of the BJP,” said Sanju Gundiana.

He said after the Assembly election was over, they would block railway tracks near the Saraswati Nagar railway station.

In the past, the BKU and residents of several villages had given memorandums to the authorities of the Indian Railways, held mahapanchayats and blocked tracks at the Saraswati Nagar railway station in connection with the said demand several times.
