Jalandhar traders hold candle march, demand justice for Kolkata doctor

A candle march was held by traders to demand justice for Kolkata doctor, who was raped and murdered at a hospital. Traders carrying placards took out 1 km march from Doaba Chowk to Sodal Mandir Chowk today. The march was held under the banner of Jalandhar Traders and Manufacturers Association along with United Canvasser Organisation on the Sodal road here.
Raj Kumar, a trader who participated in the protest, said the incident had shaken them. He said, “Its shame that women are suffering like this. We cannot sit quiet over such incidents.”
Gursharan Singh, a senior industrialist, said the accused must be hanged. He said, “The government must take steps to address such serious issue. Strict laws should be enacted to prevent crime against women.”
