A garment trader was booked by the Beas police on charge of violating the Copyright Act, 1957, when he was caught selling garments after fixing fake logos of top brands at his showroom Fashion Villa in Baba Bakala.

The trader, identified as Harbhajan Singh of Sherobagha village, was later released on bail. Harminder Singh, manager, Media Software Solutions, Ludhiana, said his firm had a tie-up with garment brands, including Zara, Hugo, Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, US Polo and Levis, to check showrooms and shops involved in selling garments after fixing fake logos of top brands. He said they received tip-off that Fashion Villa was involved in such malpractice. He said Harbhajan did not have any authorisation of top garment brands to sell their products.
