Moving beyond past differences, the BJP has put up Sunil Jakhar as the poster boy for the party's campaign in the bypoll, under the leadership of "turbaned" Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The video's tagline — 'Baaki gallan chhado, Punjab di gal zaroori hai' — seems to be a result of Jakhar's insistence about the need for the BJP to understand the issues of Punjabis and the farmers of Punjab.

This is evident from the party's first campaign video released on Wednesday. Only Prime Minister Modi and Sunil Jakhar are seen in different shots of the video with party workers and supporters.

The tagline of the 28-second video — 'Baaki gallan chhado, Punjab do gal zaroori hai' — seems to be a result of Jakhar's insistence in the past about the need for the BJP to understand the issues and demands of Punjabis and the farmers of Punjab.

Jakhar had stepped aside from the post of party president after the Lok Sabha elections and did not participate in party meetings.

However, on October 17, Modi reportedly asked him to be in the forefront when the PM visited Chandigarh and Panchkula for the Haryana Government's swearing-in and other functions.

Jakhar put up a tweet before the video, thanking the Prime Minister for extending the Kartarpur Corridor agreement with Pakistan for another five years.
