Kejriwal to meet L-G on Tuesday, likely to resign
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday sought time to meet Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The L-G has given Kejriwal appointment for meeting at 4.30 pm on Tuesday.
AAP sources said he was likely to resign as the CM on Tuesday.
The request for appointment with the L-G was sent after Kejriwal had a meeting with close aide Manish Sisodia on the way forward and his potential replacement in the CMO.
It's not clear who the CM will trust to take his place.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal has called a meeting of the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on Monday evening to take the feedback of top leaders on who should replace him.
Kejriwal will also convene a meeting of MLAs to elect a new leader of the AAP legislative party at 11.30 am on Tuesday.
Once the replacement is installed, Kejriwal is expected to resign and begin a new journey as he eyes a third consecutive term in Delhi where elections are due in February.
Kejriwal has demanded that Delhi elections be advanced to be held with Maharashtra where polls are expected in November.
However, the BJP has said it is up to the Election Commission to schedule the elections and it is hardly a political call.
The BJP has also accused Kejriwal of employing a publicity stunt to gain sympathies after facing corruption allegations in the Delhi excise scam.
