To lift horticulture waste, Gurugram MC to hire more vehicles
After getting regular complaints of horticulture waste being dumped near parks and along the roadsides, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has decided to hire more vehicles, especially tractor-trailers for collection and transportation of horticulture waste to organic fertiliser manufacturing units.
Manoj Kumar, Executive Engineer, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram,
said, “We have 18 tractor-trailers to collect and transport horticulture waste at present. After receiving suggestions from the residents’ welfare associations, we have prepared a plan to hire at least 12 more trailers.” He added that the corporation would also hire adequate workforce.
The Executive Engineer stated that tractor-trailers would be hired for all four zones of the corporation. In every zone, seven to eight tractor-trailers would be used for collecting horticulture waste. Four labourers would be deployed per vehicle.
The tendering process had been initiated for collecting horticulture waste from Officers’ Colony 1, 2, 3 and 4, Civil Lines and Ward-6 in Zone-2, said Manoj, adding that the installation of GPS devices had been made mandatory on all these vehicles. The MC would sign a contract for hiring tractor-trailers and labourers for six months.
