To fight drugs, Rs 20 cr okayed for CCTV cams in border areas: Punjab DGP
Chandigarh, July 8
To combat the menace of drug peddling through drones, the state police have sanctioned Rs 20 crore for the installation of CCTV cameras in the border areas, which will strengthen the second line of defence.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated this in a statement after interacting with 28 probationary IPS officers of the 2023 batch. The officers, including two from Bhutan, are on a study-cum-cultural tour to Punjab as part of their Bharat Darshan programme and training. The officers had a long session with the top brass of the Punjab Police on challenges and preparedness. They were also given an overview of the Punjab Police and briefed about their coordination with the BSF to safeguard the international border.
“Our discussion on state security and policing challenges was insightful and thought-provoking. I’m confident that these talented officers will make a significant impact in their future roles,” said the DGP.
