A joint team comprising experts from Ranthambore National Park and officials of Haryana and Rajasthan forest departments on Sunday rescued a two-and-half year-old male tiger that had strayed into the Jhabua Reserve Forest Area here from Sariska Tiger Reserve, Rajasthan, 84 days ago.

With the rescue of the tiger, residents of nearby 10 villages heaved a sigh of relief as they were unable to go to their fields after sunset and before sunrise due to fear of the tiger who used to hide in the dense forest during daytime, but moved around at night.

“A special rescue operation was launched today after a team of experts from Ranthambore National Park reached here. We waited for the movement of the tiger the whole day. At 6.30 pm, the joint team managed to tranquillise the tiger,” said Deepak Patil, Divisional Forest Officer, Rewari.
