Students of primary classes under the age of 11 years from both private and government schools displayed their best as they took part in various events during the district-level sports competition held here. Mini-handball, hockey, gymnastics and yoga are the events which are held directly at the district level. The events were held yesterday and today at Jakhar, Ghawaddi and in Ludhiana.

Jagjit Singh, a member of the District Tournament Committee for the two-day event, informed that in yoga, a total of 13 teams took part in various categories and the best performing team was from Government Primary School, Threeke. The yoga team from that particular school always reaches state- level competitions, said Singh.

In the handball (Boys) competition, BVM Kichlu Nagar stood first. They were followed by GPS Jandiali in second place and Paragon International, Nangal in third position. In the girls’ category, GPS Jandiali secured the win. The winners were followed by GPS Mundian Kalan in second place and BVM Kichlu Nagar in third position.

In the hockey tournament (boys), GPS Jarkhar secured the top spot. The winners were followed by GPS Raipur in second place and GPS Sudhar in third position. In the girls’ category, GPS Mundian Kalan secured the top spot. They were followed by GPS Akhara in second and GPS Dhandari Kalan in third.

In gymnastics (boys), Police Lines secured the top spot. They were followed by BCM Arya in second and Sacred Heart Convent School in third place. In the girls’ category, DAV School stood first. They were followed by Sacred Heart in second place and BCM Arya in third spot.

In rhythmic gymnastics GPS Threeke won the event. They were followed by BCM Arya in second place and BCM Dugri in third place. The winning students were given certificates and trophies.
