Three workers were charred to death, while four others managed to escape, after a massive fire broke out at a mattress factory situated on Dabwali Road in Bathinda today.

The deceased have been identified as Lakhveer Singh, Ninder Singh and Vijay Singh.

Though fire engines and firefighters arrived at the spot on time, they failed to control the raging flames. As a result, the shed of the factory also collapsed. The fire engines were roped in from Guru Gobind Singh Refinery and Dabwali in Haryana. It took six hours for the firefighters to bring the fire under control. Several trucks parked in the factory were also engulfed in the flames.
