The police have arrested three suspects who had snatched the mobile phone of a local resident five days ago.

While two of the suspects — Jai Pal Singh (20) and Gurjant Singh (20) — were arrested on Sunday, their third accomplice Sukhraj Singh (18) was nabbed on Monday.

Jai Pal and Gurjant work at a factory in Bal Kalan village while Sukhraj is employed at a saloon. According to the police, all three were addicts who resorted to snatching to buy drugs.

The Civil Lines police station have registered a case in this connection.

Following investigation and scanning of footage of CCTV cameras installed at various crossings and roads, the police identified and arrested the accused, said the ACP.

They were produced in a court and remanded in police custody for further investigation.

He said it was likely that more similar cases would be solved after the interrogation of the accused.
