Three players from Chamba make it to state cricket team
Three women cricketers from Chamba district — Tabish Bala, Kunga Phulchung and Nancy Sharma — have been selected for the Himachal Pradesh U-23 Women’s Cricket Team. They are currently participating in a training camp being held in Bilaspur. Following the camp, the Himachal team will compete in the U-23 Women’s Cricket Tournament starting on January 5.
Tabish Bala and Kunga Phulchung earned their spot due to their exceptional performances in the senior women’s cricket competitions. Nancy Sharma, on the other hand, has previously been a part of the Himachal Pradesh team. Their selection has brought immense pride to the Chamba District Cricket Association, fellow players and local residents.
Officials and members of the Chamba District Cricket Association, including Kuldeep Thakur, Amit Kumar, Harmeet Bhatiani, Vinod, Gaurav Bakshi, Devendra, Sanjay Awasthi, Hameed Khan, Kishan Kumar, Sunil, Mithun Thakur, Ashok, Antriksh, Imran and Manuj Sharma, expressed their joy and extended their best wishes to the players. They highlighted that the players’ outstanding performances and dedication have earned them this opportunity.
The association acknowledged the players’ efforts in securing their place in the camp and their determination to secure spots in the final Himachal Pradesh team. Officials also praised the district’s youth for excelling in various fields and contributing to the district’s growing reputation.
The association noted the continuous efforts to promote cricket in Chamba. Four cricket sub-centres — at Bargah, Haripur, Mehla and Banikhet — are being run by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) to nurture talent. These centres are instrumental in honing the skills of young cricketers.
The officials encouraged other aspiring cricketers from Chamba to keep working hard and improve their skills. This selection reflects the growing cricket culture in Chamba and the district’s determination to excel in the sport.
