Three of family among 4 held for financier’s murder

The police have arrested four persons, including three members of a family, for murdering Maya Devi, a 64-year-old Kharar financier, and dumping her body in a manhole near Morinda after she demanded Rs2.5 lakh back from them.
CCTV footage helped cops
A day earlier, Vikas Tomar lodged a missing report after his mother did not return home from the neighbour’s house. The police scanned the CCTV footage of the area and found Krishna Devi and Raj Dulari walking along with Maya Devi. She was later bundled into a car driven by Dinesh Singh and dumped in a manhole a few kilometres away.
The suspects have been identified Krishna Devi, her son Gurdas Singh, Krishna’s sister Raj Dulari, and Dinesh Singh, friend of Gurdas, all residents of Ranjit Nagar, Kharar. A case has been registered against the suspects under Sections 302 and 120-B of the IPC at the Kharar City police station, the police said here today.

Kharar City SHO Ashok Kumar said: “Maya Devi, a resident of Govind Vihar, lent Rs2.5 lakh to the suspects, who were her neighbours. The suspects have been sent to four-day police remand.”
