Three nabbed for murdering youngster over petty dispute
The Kotwali police cracked the murder case of a 19-year-old youth, Kamaljit Singh, alias Kamal, with the arrest of three suspects.
The trio have been identified as Happy (19), Shiva (18) and Ankit (22), all residents of Dhuri Lines. Two other suspects, Sandeep and Sunil, are at large in the case and raids are being conducted by the police to nab them.
ACP (Central) Anil Bhanot and Kotwali SHO inspector Gaganpreet Singh issued a joint statement in this regard.
Police officials said late on Saturday night, the deceased, along with his two friends, was present outside a liquor vend near the railway station where he met Happy, who was already known to him. The victim asked Happy to buy a beer for him
and the latter agreed initially. However, after sometime, Happy refused to buy the same, due to which the victim started arguments with him.
In no time, the arguments took a ghastly turn when Happy, along with his friend, attacked Kamaljit with baseball bat and heavy sticks. The victim suffered serious injuries. His two friends rushed him to the Civil Hospital from where he was referred to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Meanwhile, police sources said the victim had a criminal past as a case of attempt to murder was registered against the youngster in the past.
