Three killed as car falls into gorge in Chopal
Three people lost their lives when the car they were travelling in (HP 10 C 0476) plunged into a deep gorge in Chopal, district Shimla. The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday on the Sarahan-Pulvahal link road.
The victims have been identified as Prikshit Bharti (28) of Kadrot village in Jubbal; Mukesh (32) from Dochi village in Jubbal; and Vinod Kumar (32) from Jhalta village in Jubbal. All three died on the spot after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road.
Local residents spotted the accident and alerted the police. A team from Chopal police station reached the scene, recovered the bodies, and transported them to Civil Hospital, Chopal, for post-mortem. After completion of formalities, the bodies were handed over to the victims’ families for cremation.
SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, confirmed the incident and said a probe is underway. The district administration has provided Rs 25,000 as immediate relief to the families of the deceased.
