Three held with 125 kg poppy husk
Three individuals from different states were held with 125 kg of poppy husk. Rajasthan Police said they stopped two luxury vehicles for checking on National Highway 62, seized the narcotics and arrested the suspects.
A team led by Sub-Inspector Ratan Lal from the Dudhwa Khara station had set up a blockade on the highway with the help of the district special team (DST) near the toll plaza. The sub-inspector said the police team made an attempt to stop two SUVs; however, both drivers broke the blockage and tried to flee. He said the vehicles were intercepted at the next blockage.
The police said they searched the vehicle and a total of 125 kg of poppy husk was seized from both vehicles. They said the occupants in these vehicles, identified as Vijayinder Singh (34) of Palli village in Jammu’s Samba district, Harpreet Singh (44) of Sobhan Majra, Nalagarh in Solan district in Himachal Pradesh and Amar Pal (33) of Taruwala, Chhachhrauli in Haryana, were arrested.
The police said the value of the seized poppy husk was about Rs 19 lakh. They said both vehicles have been seized too. Police officials said during initial interrogation, they found the suspects were going to Nalagarh after arranging poppy husk at a place near Jodhpur. The police said a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the suspects, adding that all were being interrogated to ascertain the source of the narcotics.
