Three held on charge of cheating goldsmith

The police have arrested three swindlers, including a woman, for allegedly cheating a goldsmith by selling fake gold jewellery to him.

However, the jeweller got the wind and informed the police which arrived on the spot and nabbed them. Those arrested were identified as Daljit Kaur, Simranjit Singh, a resident of Sunny Enclave on Ram Tirath Road, Navdeep Singh, alias Deep, a resident of New Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Sultanwind Road.

Complainant Jagtar Singh, a resident of Verka, told the police that he runs a jewellery shop in the name of Brothers Jeweller at Verka bus stop. Jagtar said he along with his son Saminder Singh worked at the shop. He said yesterday evening, a woman along with two youth arrived at their shop and handed over two gold rings in order to sell these. He said on checking, gold rings were found to be fake. Jagtar said the suspects wanted to dupe him.

Jagtar informed the police which arrived at his shop. During preliminary probe, the suspects allegedly confessed that they tried to cheat the goldsmith and were arrested after registration of an FIR.
