The three-day state-level Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav concluded in Paonta Sahib yesterday. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan was the chief guest at the concluding evening of the festival, which celebrates the cultural heritage of the region.

Chauhan inaugurated cultural programmes by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Earlier in the day, he took part in the Yamuna aarti at the riverbank and inspected exhibitions set up by various government departments.

He said that Paonta Sahib was an important religious, cultural and historical place in the country. The town, located on the banks of the Yamuna, was internationally known due to its connection with Guru Gobind Singh. “Paonta Sahib, situated near the borders of Uttarakhand and Haryana, showcases a unique blend of cultural traditions, enriched by diverse influences of neighbouring regions,” he added.

He also praised the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for working tirelessly to make the state self-reliant. He said that the state government had approved Rs 25 crore for the establishment of a trauma centre in Paonta Sahib, which would improve healthcare services in the region.
