Jhajjar: This time, khap leaders ‘indifferent’ towards farmers’ march

Jhajjar, February 8
Leaders of khap panchayats are adopting an “indifferent” attitude towards the farmers’ march. “It is election time and efforts should be made to oust the BJP from power. This is the only solution in the prevailing scenario,” said Om Prakash Dhankar, coordinator, Sarv Khap Panchayat.
There was no point in diverting public attention and farmers’ strength by protesting against a government that had backed out from promises made during the 2021 agitation, he said.
“Though a majority of khap leaders are not interested in taking part in the agitation, a meeting of all khaps has been convened at Auchandi border in Delhi on February 11 to take a final call,” he said.
Balwant Numberdar, chief of Phogat khap, said they had not received any message from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha regarding the march, and hence, they had no plans to participate in it yet.
Yudhvir Singh, president, Dhankar khap-12, said though the khap had extended help during the earlier agitation, they had not taken a decision about the participation in the March protest.
The Jhajjar SP, Dr Arpit Jain, said they were keeping a tab on the situation and would make adequate arrangements so that no one could take law into their hands.
