Third accused arrested in Khingra Gate murder case
The police have arrested third accused, identified as Sajan Sahota, a resident of Ajit Nagar, in connection with the murder of Rishabh, alias Badshah, who was shot dead on Diwali night near Khingra Gate.
The police had booked Sahil Kapoor, alias Mannu Kapoor Dhillon, Saajan Sahota, Manav, Nannu Kapoor, Dr Kohli, Chakshit Randhawa, Gaggi, Kaka and some unknown persons in the case under Sections 103(1), 109, 190, 191(3) of the BNS and 25/27-54-59 of the Arms Act.
While the main accused Sahil Kapoor and Chakshit had been earlier arrested, the police were conducting raids regularly to nab others.
SHO Ashok Kumar of Division Number 3 confirmed that special teams were formed to apprehend those involved. Acting on a tip-off, the police used technical resources to trace Sajan's movements, which led them to the Pathankot bypass area. A raid was conducted near Balle-Balle Farm, where the accused was taken into custody.
According to the victim's family, Sajan had allegedly provided two pistols at the time of the incident, one of which was used by co-accused Manu Kapoor. Manu reportedly fired the fatal shots that killed Rishabh and injured his friend, Ishu.
SHO Kumar said the accused would be presented in a court and a three-day remand would be sought for further interrogation. “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects in the case”, he added.
