Vaccination for the age group 15-18 years started today and huge rush was seen at the vaccination centers which also led to chaos and confusion at some places. Kids were full of enthusiasm for getting vaccinated and some even came alone to get themselves jabbed.
However, due to rush some visitors were unable to locate the vaccination center for teens which led to confusion. The vaccination centers were the same but the vaccination sites for adults and kids were different.
“I first went upstairs but the session site for kids was on the ground floor. People were confused due to huge rush at the vaccination center. Once again the rush for vaccination has started,” said Garima, who got her 16-year-old daughter vaccinated today.
Teens were upbeat about getting the vaccination finally. “I will be appearing for my boards this year so I came for vaccination on the very first day. I do not want to take any chances and got myself vaccinated today,” said Kashish, a Class XII student.
The drive, however, was not without some hiccups. One of the beneficiaries at UPHC Jawaddi said that she got her vaccine, but the staff was unable to register her name due to some internet glitch. “I haven’t received any message from the department and now I am keeping my fingers crossed as otherwise I will not be able to receive my second dose,” said she.
Civil Surgeon, Dr SP Singh said that session sites for kids and adults were different and urged the parents to encourage their children to get themselves vaccinated.
“People, who are yet to receive their second dose of vaccination, should also come forward and get themselves fully vaccinated. Everyone knows that with the new variant Omicron spreading fast, Covid19 should not be taken lightly”, he added.
School principals have also been urged to motivate parents as well as children to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.
