Teaching, non-teaching unions meet Edu Minister

Members of the Teaching and Non-Teaching unions of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST) met Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda and submitted a memorandum of their demands to save the university, during his visit to Rai on Wednesday.

The members led by Dr Ajay Kumar Dabas, president, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University Teachers’ Association (DCRUTA) and Anand Singh Rana, president, Non-Teaching Employees Association, blamed the Vice-Chancellor for the financial embezzlement and said that the students were forced to study without any approved scheme and syllabus. They also alleged that the Vice-Chancellor was violating the University Act, which was passed in the Assembly.

They also invited the Education Minister to the university to know the ground reality prevailing there and also appealed that the Vice-Chancellor be removed.

The associations in their representation of around 20 pages alleged that the Vice- Chancellor had appointed outsiders on various posts without getting the approval of the government, while there is no provision in the state to do so.

They further alleged that the Vice-Chancellor had appointed advocates from outside at a fixed salary and also fixed their fee by avoiding the government norms.

They further alleged that the Vice-Chancellor had made some outsiders, members of the Executive Council (EC) of the university by violating the university Act and was not nominating any teacher as a member of the EC. There should be five member teachers in the EC but only two had been nominated since a long time.

Anand said the employees were waiting for their promotions, but the university administration was not doing anything about it. There were several other problems in the university but no one was paying any heed to these problems.
