New Delhi, July 5

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of undermining Delhi’s education system through arbitrary mass transfers of 5,000 teachers. AAP Delhi state convenor Gopal Rai held a press conference today, alleging that the transfers were conducted under pressure from the Lieutenant Governor (LG) acting on behalf of the BJP-led central government.

The mass transfers, according to Rai, will disrupt the bond between students and teachers, negatively impacting the education system. “This arbitrary transfer will shake the foundation of Delhi’s education system and break the bonding between students and teachers. These teachers have nurtured their students like their own children, and such sudden transfers are a betrayal to both teachers and students,” he added.

Connecting with the mindset of a child from a poor family, educating their parents, guiding them in PTMs, and preparing them to teach their children is not a one-day job. Our teachers have become emotionally connected to these children, and uprooting them like this is damaging. — Gopal Rai, AAP Delhi state convenor

Addressing the emotional and practical implications of the transfers, Rai stated, “Connecting with the mindset of a child from a poor family, educating their parents, guiding them in parent-teacher meetings, and preparing them to teach their children is not a one-day job. Our teachers have become emotionally connected to these children, and uprooting them like this is damaging,” he said.

“These transfers are a blatant part of the BJP’s ‘Kam Roko Abhiyan’ aimed at halting the progress of the Arvind Kejriwal government,” said Rai. He criticised the BJP for exploiting the education system for corrupt practices. “The only purpose of these transfers is to commit corruption. There is money being made in transfer-posting, and this needs to be stopped immediately. Action should be taken against those responsible,” he asserted.
