Teacher arrested for showing obscene videos to students
The police arrested a male teacher of a private school here on the charge of showing obscene videos to minor girls and “touching them with bad intention” today.
In a complaint submitted to the Phase 1 police station SHO, the parents of five students, studying in from Class II to V, have demanded “strict legal action against the teacher and the school”.
Talking to mediapersons, they alleged that “the teacher had been taking the girls to the basement of the building, showing them obscene videos and touching them on chest and back for the past four days”. They added the school did not sack the teacher despite their complaints and when they approached the school this morning, they saw accused teacher present in the assembly.
The agitated parents reached the police post and the cops called the accused teacher and the principal for investigation. After a daylong drama, the police registered an FIR against the teacher under the POCSO Act around 8 pm.
The police have seized his mobile phone.
The parents of a Class II girl said, “We came to know about the incident after we noticed that the child was depressed. On counselling, she disclosed the matter to us.”
Mohali SSP Deepak Pareek said, “The suspect has been arrested. No mala fide intention of any other person has been found till now. The police are investigating the matter.”
