TDP MP gave false statement to save son: Kejriwal’s wife
New Delhi, July 6
Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, released a video on Saturday, alleging a ‘deep political conspiracy’ orchestrated by the ruling Central party, leading to her husband’s arrest. She claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) “manipulated” the judicial process, relying on coerced statements to incriminate the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader.
In the video, Sunita said, “My husband was arrested based on a statement by TDP MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy (MSR). The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a part of the ruling NDA alliance. On December 17, 2022, the ED conducted a raid on MSR’s residence and asked whether he had ever met Kejriwal. He said, ‘Yes, I met him to buy land in Delhi.’ On March 16, 2021, he met Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat. He wanted to open a family charitable trust in Delhi and met the CM regarding land for it. Kejriwal said that the land is under the L-G’s jurisdiction, and to apply for it, they would see what could be done. The ED was not happy with his statement.”
She highlighted the trauma faced by MSR’s family due to repeated interrogations. “Despite repeated interrogations, MSR stuck to his original statement. This ordeal led to severe personal trauma for MSR’s family, including an attempted suicide by his son Raghava Magunta Reddy’s wife and deteriorating mental health within the family,” she said.
Sunita alleged that the TDP MP altered his statement to the ED about his meeting with Kejriwal after his son was arrested.
According to Sunita, the pressure on MSR resulted in a coerced statement on July 17, 2023. “MSR’s family had a hard time. MSR changed his statement and said on March 16, 2021, he met Kejriwal, who asked him to start a liquor business in Delhi and, in return, give Rs 100 crore to AAP. The next day, MSR’s son was released from jail on bail. It is obviously a lie,” she alleged.
“The ED manipulated the judicial process. The court recognised the lack of evidence and acknowledged the coercion involved in obtaining MSR’s revised statement while granting bail to Kejriwal,” she added.
She described her husband as a “patriotic and honest person” who is being targeted by a deep political conspiracy. “If we don’t stand by honest individuals in politics today, educated and upright citizens will be discouraged from participating in governance,” she warned.
In her emotional appeal, she urged the public to support Kejriwal and share the video widely to expose what she called the misuse of the ED and the CBI by the ruling party to dismantle the Aam Aadmi Party and silence its leaders. “This is a fight for truth and integrity in politics,” she added.
Kejriwal is in judicial custody until July 12 on CBI’s plea as well as in the money laundering case filed by the ED in the excise policy case.
Sunita allowed to access CM’s medical records
New Delhi: A court here has granted permission to Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, to access his medical records. The court also authorised her to independently consult and seek advice from the medical board or doctors on his behalf. However, the court rejected Kejriwal’s plea seeking directions for Sunita to act as his attendant during medical consultations. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja underscored that under Delhi Prison Rules, such permissions are typically granted only when a prisoner is admitted to a hospital, which was not the case for Kejriwal. TNS
