After the district town planner (DTP) served notices upon 12 persons, including a firm, in an alleged scam of crores of rupees whereby a private builder sold undetermined (UD) land, parks, roads and green belt area to private persons at TDI City in Sector 23 here, the Municipal Corporation (MC), Panipat, also began a probe into the matter.

The property tax branch of the MC has recommended deleting 11 property IDs from the NDC portal of which the property IDs have been made by the MC, but these plots did not exist in the layout plan of the TDI. As per the property tax branch report, six property IDs were not matched with the area shown in the layout plan of TDI. Besides, 17 such plots have been identified, whose area shown in the property IDs made by the MC did not matched with the approved layout plan of the TDI.

As per the sources, the MC in the preliminary investigation found several anomalies in making of the property IDs — including mismatch in the measurement of properties showed in the approved layout plan of the TDI and the property IDs made by the MC, missing GPS photos, Aadhaar cards missing of the applicants, partition of the properties by violating the rules etc.

The MC has also summoned property owners with the approved layout plan of the TDI and the allotment letter of the plots, the sources added.

Jogender Swami, president of Jan Aawaj Society and former Zila Parishad member, in his complaint to Chief Minister, Chief Town Planner and; Country and Town Planning Director, Panipat DC and Panipat MC Commissioner alleged the land mafia active in the TDI City had not only sold the UD land, green belt and park area registered in the name of the district town planner (DTP) by making plots, but even the road.

Swami alleged that the land mafia in connivance with the officials and TDI managed to get fake property IDs of over 3 acre land and got registered the sale deeds of the government land in the name of private people.

MC Joint Commissioner Mani Tyagi said an inquiry into the matter was underway and it would be completed within a week.
