Tarn Taran roads in poor state
Tarn Taran, February 18
A number of social and political organisations have expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of roads in Tarn Taran city. Dalwinder Singh Pannu and Heera Singh Kandianwala of the CPM, Baldev Singh Pandori and others said that a four kilometre stretch of the main road, passing through the town, had developed more than 100 deep pits. The leaders claimed that everybody was aware of the poor condition of the road as it is frequented by officials of the administration and even MLAs. They also said that the officials concerned were aware of the fact that these pits caused more accidents because of the excessive manoeuvring that had to be done while plying the route.
The leaders also said it was shocking that the link road leading to the office of the MLA was of in such a bad condition.
The condition of Jandiala road, Railway road, Circular road and Noordi road were among the worst affected. Kandianwala said there were times when a district-level and the subdivision-level grievances redressal committee would be formed by the government. The members of these committees would often convene meetings in which problems being faced by the public would be resolved. But since the AAP government came to power the committees have not even been mentioned leave alone being formed.
Simrandeep Singh SDM-cum-Administrator of the MC said there was no plan for the approval of the maintenance of these roads .He said as the matter had been brought to his notice a demand would be made to get the problem resolved at the earliest.
