Take action against violators, MCG chief directs officials

Gurugram MC Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg has asked the officials of the civic body to ensure compliance of prohibitory orders issued in the wake of Graded Response Action Plan Stage III within the municipal limits.

While presiding over a meeting of the officials, he asked then to strictly ban all types of construction and demolition activities. “You must constantly monitor the city and take action against violations,” he said.

Besides, it is mandatory to cover construction sites and keep the construction material covered by sprinkling water on it. Burning any kind of garbage, using wood and coal in tandoor, transporting construction material and debris without covering it, dumping of illegal garbage and debris etc. are completely banned. Besides challaning the violators, FIR would also be registered under various rules, he warned.

He told the officials that in compliance with the GRAP rules, water should be sprayed on the roads and trees continuously so that dust does not fly in the air. Keep monitoring the mechanised sweeping machines installed for cleaning the main roads and ensure that dust was not visible on the routes set for sweeping machines, he directed them. He also asked them to ensure prompt action on complaints related to environmental pollution received through social media and apps.

In the meeting, the officials informed the MC Commisisoner that nine water tankers and three anti-smog guns had been deployed to spray water on roads and trees. From Monday, the number of water tankers would be increased to 16 and by the end of next week, a total of 28 water tankers would be engaged in water spraying work. They revealed that treated water from the sewerage treatment plant was being sprayed on roads and trees. Besides, 16 machines were working continuously for mechanised cleaning of roads, they added. Garg appealed residents to follow GRAP rules and if they see any person violating rules, they should inform the MCG.
