Suspected drug addict taken ill, dies

A 21-year-old resident of Sant Nagar, suspected to be drug addict, died this afternoon.

The deceased Sagar’s body has been kept at the mortuary of the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The deceased’s brother Sahil and brother-in-law Kalu Ram said Sagar fell into bad company some time ago and started taking drugs. The family did counsel him, but could not make him quit drugs, they said.

Sagar was not keeping well for the past one week, adding that perhaps he could not arrange drugs. Today, they brought him to the hospital for treatment where he was declared dead, they said.

Dr Sandeep from the Civil Hospital said Sagar appeared to be a drug addict. Due to injecting of drugs in hands, legs and other parts of the body, his nerves had died. He had fever, which led to dropping of cell count causing the death, said Dr Sandeep.
