Mumbai: India batter Suryakumar Yadav will miss the opening round of the Duleep Trophy starting on September 5 due to an injury to his hand which he sustained last week. Suryakumar, who played in the final outing for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Coimbatore against TNCA XI, had missed the last day’s play of the contest due to the injury as he did not come out to bat. Suryakumar was set to play for India C against India D. He has reported at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Indians sweep men’s air rifle event at Deaf Worlds

India dominated the men’s 10m air rifle event on Day 2 of the second World Deaf Shooting Championship in Hanover, Germany, with Dhanush Srikanth, Shourya Saini and Mohammed Murtaza Vania making a sweep of the medals. Dhanush set two world records in a single day, first by scoring 632.7 in the qualification round, followed by a stunning 251.7 in the final. Shourya secured the silver with a score of 249.9. Vania claimed the bronze with a score of 226.2. In the women’s category, Mahit Sandhu and Natasha Joshi won silver and bronze, respectively.

Shubhankar finishes 18th at British Masters

Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma finished a creditable 18th at the British Masters for his second straight top-20 finish. Sharma shot a 4-under 68 to finish T-18 at 4-under with rounds of 71-72-73-68. Last week, he was T-14 at the Danish Open. Sharma fired 18 birdies but also dropped many shots. Denmark’s Niklas Norgaard held his nerve to clinch his maiden DP World Tour title by two shots.

Diksha shoots even-par to finish tied-38 in Irish Open

Diksha Dagar scored an even-par 73 for a four-round total of 4-under 288 as the two-time winner on the Ladies European Tour finished tied-38 at the Women’s Irish Open. Diksha had four birdies against four bogeys, two of which came on par-5 holes. England’s Annabel Dimmock completed her return from injury as she won her first European Tour title in five years after defeating Pauline Roussin-Bouchard in a playoff.

Indian golfer Saptak Talwar logged his best result on the Asian Tour as he shot a final round 4-under 68 to finish a creditable tied-sixth at the $500,000 Indonesia Open. Talwar finished with a total score of 12-under. Khalin Joshi was 7-under and T-30, Veer Ahlawat was 6-under and 33rd, Gaganjeet Bhullar was 5-under and T-34, while SSP Chawrasia was 4-under and T-44. England’s Steve Lewton ended a 10-year wait to claim his second title on the Asian Tour by winning in a sudden-death play-off.
