The BJP today went into damage control mode today over a report that the party’s state president Sunil Jakhar has relinquished the post.

Though Sunil Jakhar did not deny the news item published in these columns, a number of state BJP leaders claimed that Jakhar had not resigned. No statement has been issued by the party’s national leaders either.

Jakhar has been conspicuous by his absence from all state party meetings after the Jalandhar byelection in July. He went to Switzerland to spend time with his family for few weeks. He has not participated in the ongoing membership drive of the party in the state.
