Sunday marks Red-Ribbon festivities at Chambi ground
A district level Red-Ribbon competition was organised on Sunday against HIV and drug abuse at the Chambi sports ground in Rait by Shahpur Vidhan Sabha Welfare Society and Chambi Youth and Sports Academy.
Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Pathania was the chief guest at the event. Interacting with the youth, he said 75 Red Ribbon clubs were working in the district, and the main objective of such competitions was to connect the young generation with creative work through sports, and keep them away from evils of drug use. Pathania underlined the importance of the youth to get involved in creative work for the development of the country. He said Shahpur Vidhan Sabha Welfare Society and Chambi Youth and Sports Academy were making an important contribution in this noble work, which was commendable and a highly meaningful initiative.
At the programme, the Kangra Chief Medical Officer honoured the chief guest by presenting him a shawl, cap and a memento. Various competitions were organised to mark this occasion. In the 1600-m race for boys, Ravi Rana stood first, Johnny second and Lucky stood third.
In the 800-m race for girls, Nancy bagged the first position, Aditi Chaudhary second and Sangam third. Pathania honoured the winners with cash prizes, mementoes and certificates. Shahpur SDM Kartar Chand, CMO Dr Rajesh Guleri, Shahpur BMO Dr Kavita, Dr Anuradha, ITI (Shahpur) Principal Chain Singh Rana and RVMAPA (Shahpur) Principal Anil Jaryal were among those present at the event.
