Sukhu urges Gadkari for new DPR of Solan-Parwanoo road
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today urged the Central Government to get a new detailed project report (DPR) prepared for the Solan-Parwanoo road keeping in view many blind black spots and curves on it.
Sukhu held detailed discussions with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi about various road, bridge and ropeway projects. He requested Gadkari for a review of the realignment of the Solan-Parwanoo road and the preparation of a new DPR.
Sukhu urged the Union Minister for liberal Central funds and support for new road projects in Himachal. Besides, he also requested Gadkari to get the left-out portions of the Shimla-Mataur national highway widened to four lanes. He submitted a proposal for the construction of four road projects to the Union Minister.
The Chief Minister said that strengthening the road network was of utmost importance for facilitating tourists and the overall development of the state. He suggested to Gadkari that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) should explore the possibility of constructing tunnels, wherever feasible, to reduce the maintenance cost.
