Sukhu: Model health institutions being developed in all segments
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the state government was committed to providing quality healthcare services to people. As part of the initiative, one health institution in every Assembly constituency was being upgraded as a model institution and Rs 1 crore had been allocated to each of them for the purchase of necessary machinery and equipment, he added.
The Chief Minister flagged off a mobile clinic bus service of Tonglen, a Tibetan NGO, at the Circuit House in Dharamsala. He said that an action plan was being implemented to improve health and education services.
Sukhu said that emergency services were being developed by upgrading the casualty department in medical colleges in the state. He added that keeping in view the growing number of cancer patients, the government was establishing state-of-the-art cancer institutes in various parts of the state to offer advanced treatment.
He said that the government had also decided to provide free of cost medicines and treatment to cancer patients in government hospitals. The government had included 42 essential medicines of cancer on its essential medicines list, which were made available free of cost to patients in need.
The Chief Minister listened to public grievances and assured people that the government would resolve their issues and continuously work to provide them with better facilities by introducing various welfare schemes. He said that Cabinet ministers had also been directed to visit rural areas to listen to the concerns and issues of people on their doorsteps, which would save the time of villagers for traveling to the district headquarters for minor issues.
Various delegations met with the Chief Minister and took up their issues with him. Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma, HPTDC Chairman RS Bali, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, Indora MLA Malender Rajan, Chairman of the State Scheduled Caste Commission Kuldeep Dhiman, Chairman of the KCCB Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Dharamsala Mayor Neenu Sharma, former Mayor Devinder Jaggi, Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa and SP Shalini Agnihotri were present on the occasion.
