Submit weekly report on Rupnagar bus stand project: DC to officials
Officials of the PWD have been directed to submit a weekly progress report on the construction of new bus stand at the bypass every Monday.
With the aim of providing public transport-related services to the city residents, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Friday reviewed the construction work on the new bus stand.
- In the new bus stand, space has been allocated to park 20 buses
- Besides, space for parking around 60 cars and 100 two-wheelers has been designated in the basement
Officials told the DC about the work being done so far, Jain instructed the officials to complete work on the bus stand in a standard manner as per the rules.
The Deputy Commissioner said 21 buses would be parked at the counter of the new bus stand. He said space had been allocated to park 20 buses in the parking lot, while space for parking about 60 cars and 100 two-wheelers has been made in the basement for the convenience of public.
Jain said the administrative block of the Punjab Roadways would be shifted to this bus stand. Additionally, there would be a dormitory hall for drivers, including two lifts and shops canteen.
He said that common people in Rupnagar were facing a lot of difficulties due to the lack of an operational bus stand. “In view of these conditions, the officials of the PWD are strictly directed to ensure that every work related to the bus stand will be completed within the stipulated time,” he added.
He said with the completion of the new bus stand, the residents of Rupnagar, people of other districts of the state and citizens of Himachal Pradesh would get access to modern facilities while using public transportation.
