Students, teachers celebrate International Yoga Day online
MRA Senior Secondary Model School, Sector 27, Chandigarh
Students participated in an online session to mark International Yoga Day, wherein physical instructor Anuradha Gupta and NCC ANO Sukhpal Kaur and Manoj Kalia demonstrated various asanas followed by ‘omkar’ chanting. Warm up exercises were performed by the students and teachers and the importance of these was also explained simultaneously. NCC Cadets registered themselves through Google forms to join online yoga programmes and performed asanas with enthusiasm. A video of celebrity Shilpa Shetty performing yoga was also shown to teachers. Father’s Day celebrations were also held as students participated enthusiastically by sending their wishes and note of thanks to their fathers. They also sent cards, wrote short poems, letters and recorded audios online. Principal Seema Biji sent her wishes and emphasised the importance of yoga and motivated the students and parents to make that an important part of their lives.
DAV Public School, Tiara, Kangra
The school celebrated International Yoga Day to convey the message of keeping mind and body fit through asanas. Students made charts, wrote slogans and performed asanas under the guidance of teachers. Live performances were also recorded on Zoom app.
Sanskriti KMV School, Jalandhar
The school marked Father’s Day, wherein students participated in various activities to express their respect, gratitude and love towards their fathers. Students made greeting cards, presented plants, sang songs and danced with their fathers and also prepared their fathers’ favourite snacks. Students shared their experiences with their teachers online. Principal Rachna Monga said that was not a matter of a single day rather children must always value the blessings of parents.
AKSIPS-45 Smart School, Chandigarh
Children raised awareness on environmental issues by participating in an online drawing competition on the theme ‘human and environment ‘. Students of classes VI to VIII showcased their creativity and shared ideas on how to keep the environment clean and healthy for a good life. Director-Principal Jasmine Kalra appreciated the efforts of the children.

The 6th International Yoga Day was celebrated on a virtual platform. Teachers and students from Montessori to Class XII performed different asanas under the guidance of PETs. Students from various classes shared their photos and videos. On this occasion, Principal Gurpal Anand shared the importance and need of practising yoga to stay fit and healthy. She added that the celebration of International Yoga Day was a reminder to incorporate yoga in every day routine to enjoy a happy life and reduce the effects of stress and other physical ailments.

An international webinar on ‘Encoding life with happiness through storytelling during Covid-19 pandemic’ was organised in association with Mahendra Jakhar, a Bollywood script writer and TEDx speaker. A group of counsellors and psychologists empanelled with CBSE and NCERT and united under ‘Lockdown Diary’, an initiative of teachers Rajesh Vashisth and Jaspreet Kaur. More than 4,000 students, teachers and principals from schools across UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Nepal, and Georgia took part in the event. The webinar focussed on live interaction and aimed to instil the spirit of self-expression among students. The speaker told the students about the basics of creative writing and storytelling. Panelists Dr Roma Kumar, Dr Kumud Srivastava, Dr Shikha Rastogi, Neha Sharma, Annu Khatri, Suneela, Shakti Bhagat, Umarani Chiluka, Puneet Dutta , Sonam Chatwani, Sham Chawla, George A Thomas, Dr Medha Upadhyay, professor Abubaker from UAE, Dr Hameeda Kadar and Michelle Motha from Qatar, T Premkumar from Kuwait and Rhushda Khan from Georgia also addressed the students.
